Sligo Food Trail Gets Ready for Spring Highlighting the Best of Local Food and Drink

Sligo Food Trail is getting ready for spring with a newly launched informative spring brochure featuring all you need to know to make the most out of the tourist season, which traditionally begins on St. Patrick’s Day.

High-quality finished and composed of useful information, gorgeous photos and a helpful map, it will be available at Fáilte Ireland Tourist Information Offices and Sligo Tourism.

Chairman Anthony Gray said, “This brochure is the first of two seasonal brochures which Sligo Food Trail will produce this year. It focuses on the spring and early summer season. The second brochure which we will launch in May, will focus on summer and early autumn”.

The Sligo Food Trail spring brochure has an emphasis in local, artisan food and drink, highlighting over 30 interactive Food Experiences that encourage people to truly engage, and showing how the Trail can become a really memorable part of their visit to Sligo.

Food Experiences are available for adults and families: from pizza making workshops to whiskey tastings, from surfing to foraging, from one hour events to overnight accomodation… there’s enough to cater for a wide array of interests and tastes.

Sligo Food Trail members are an exciting mix of producers, markets, cafes, restaurants, craft beer, gastro pubs and accommodation scattered all around the county, many of which are also part of the Wild Atlantic Way and others draw visitors inland to discover less known areas of this lovely and fascinating county.

Establishments featured on trail have earned praise of organisations and specialised media and among the numerous award-wining stops you can encounter Ethna Reynolds at Nook Cafe in Collooney, chosen as Best Newcomer 2016 by Georgina Campbell; raw food and vegan eatery Sweet Beat, judged Best Vegetarian Restaurant by the Irish Times in December 2016, and Hargadon Brothers pub, included in the prestigious Michelin Eating Out in Pubs Guide 2017.

Sligo Food Trail is the best introduction to this food lovers’ paradise, abundant in the fruits of this magnificent landscape and the wild Atlantic, served to you with pride. The project is funded by CEDRA, Dept. of Agriculture, Sligo County Council, LEO Sligo, Food Trail Members, Fáilte Ireland and Sligo Tourism Ltd.
