Set the Scene for Spring and Summer Entertaining with The Designed Table’s Debut Collection of Vibrant Table Linens and Accessories, All Created to Mix and Match to Suit Your Personal Style

The Designed Table a new Irish table linen brand unveils their first collection. The extensive range of tablecloths, napkins, runners, placemats and napkin rings in a wide selection of vibrant prints is designed to work together to create a variety of elegant tablescapes

Now more than ever before, gathering around the table is so important. Whether it’s a Sunday roast with the family, a supper with friends or a simple dinner for two, mealtimes should be given time and dedication, turning them from a necessity into a ceremony, one where laughter, communication and true connection are the order of the day.

Tara O’Connor – a long-time devotee to tablescaping – wants to bring everyone back to the table to celebrate the everyday.  Her new range, The Designed Table, features a vibrant collection of table linens and accessories all created to elevate the dining experience.

Tara’s passion for setting a beautiful table stems from both a successful career in PR and events spanning more than 20 years as well as her upbringing, right through to her personal love of entertaining. “You’re creating memories when you sit down together,” says Tara, who always sets her family’s table for dinner. “As a consumer, I found it difficult to source table linen for the home that suited my own personal taste. That’s why I designed my first collection with so much colour. Where I live in Kildare, with the nearby countryside and forests, has very much influenced this collection. I want to bring some fun and colour into people’s homes and to elevate the everyday dining experience.”

The Designed Table debut range for spring/summer features four linen collections:

  • The Pantone Collection, featuring linen and cotton mix of placemats, napkins and table runners in green, navy, yellow and grey.  Our blend of 55% linen and 45% cotton gives this collection a fresh and modern look. Don’t be afraid to mix up colours, as all the colours will work together to give you a vibrant tablescape.
  • The Jaipur Collection, which features three hand designed, cotton block printed tablecloths in beautiful Indian inspired prints plus a green floral placemat, napkin and runner that work beautifully together;
  • The Print Collection, which includes three cotton print designs – Botanical, Dali and Hydrangea;
  • The Check Collection, which includes two modern gingham patterns, one in green and one in navy.

With an extensive range of tablecloths, runners, and bespoke cotton napkins in vibrant colours and elegant prints, the first collection for The Designed Table offers something to suit every taste, complemented beautifully by the jute placemats and marble, wooden, wooden beaded and metallic napkin rings. The collection is designed to work interchangeably, offering versatility and variation to suit the occasion.

When it comes to setting the perfect table, Tara’s advice is to have a little fun: “Don’t be afraid to mix colours and patterns. Pick your flowers first. Small vases in the middle of the table work great with flowers at different heights. For a more formal table, use symmetrical flowers. Hydrangeas always make a statement. Peony rose season is nearly upon us, too. Where possible, buy your flowers closed and leave overnight in a cold room before placing on your table. Then, start with your tablecloth, or if tablecloths aren’t for you, add a runner down the centre of the table. Add placemats on top of your tablecloth to create depth. If you’re serving an antipasti starter, add your starter plate. Don’t add layers of plates you have to take away when guests sit down. Pop a napkin in a napkin ring or as a nice fold onto your plate or placemat. And don’t forget your wine and water glasses. If you want to do place names, leaves, lemons, limes and pomegranates are fun ways to display them – just have a gold sharpie on hand!”

The first collection is available to order now at thedesignedtable.com. Prices start from €40 for a set of four cotton napkins; €24 for a set of four napkin rings; €35 for a table runner; €10 for a jute placemat; while tablecloths start at €65 for a small table size up to €120 for a larger table.

Every piece in The Designed Table collection is designed by Tara in Ireland and made in India by compliant manufacturers.
