This New Restaurant’s Tantalising Menu Will Tempt You to Temple Bar

Just months after the opening of his last restaurant, Klaw Poke, restaurateur Niall Sabongi has unveiled another, The Seafood Café, at Spranger’s Yard, Temple Bar.

Opening this week in the heart of the city, the new restaurant is part of Niall’s drive to make seafood more accessible, and food and fish lovers can expect super-fresh seafood served signature Klaw style, with a great wine selection, in a relaxed café with bar, booth and outdoor seating.

Open early Monday to Friday for breakfast, diners can start their day with fresh brewed coffee and a range of pastries including homemade Portuguese tarts.

For lunch there’s the likes of Smoked Haddock & Spinach Croque-Madame, Quiches, Fish Pie and Sandwiches and soup or chowder to take away.

In the evening, The Seafood Café will truly come to life, with a menu that starts with ‘Snax’, including East Coast Crab on Toast (€6), and Salt Cod Croquettes (€6) and Small Plates like Ahi Poke Taco with Chipotle Aioli (€8).

Given The Seafood Café’s heritage the shellfish selection is the highlight, featuring Chilled or Grilled Lobster, half or whole (€18/32), Whole Dublin Bay Prawns, steamed or grilled (€18) or Dressed Local Brown Crab with Rye Toast (€14).

Other main course options include hearty portions of Niall’s Fish Pie (€18), Klaw’s Lobster Roll with fries and leaves (€21) and Moules Mariniere (€15/€8) are also served, but for lighter fare there’s Lambay Crab Waldorf (€11.50) or Wild Prawn Cocktail (€12) salads.

The drinks menu includes White (Picpoul, Albarino, Mahi, Muscadet and Chablis), Red (Syra, Cotes du Rhone), Sparkling (Baron Fuente, Valdobbiadene Frizzante), as well as a selection of beers – including Klaw’s own brews, Klaw IPA Pils and Klaw Shuck n’ Suck Indian Pale Ale – and a choice of five different Bloody Marys.

The Seafood Café is open 7 days, from 8am Monday to Friday and from 11am Saturday and Sunday.
