‘Sarah’s Wonderful Honey’ Buzzing with First UK Listing in 477 Sainsbury’s Stores

Kilkenny-based ‘Sarah’s Wonderful Honey’ has announced its new listing in 477 Sainsbury’s stores across England, Wales and Scotland and Northern Ireland. This represents a major listing for the speciality honey range which was created five years ago by Sarah Gough (33) as a new brand of her family business, Mileeven Fine Foods, founded by her mum Éilis Gough in 1988.

A double celebration, Mileeven has featured for the first time in the ‘Top Five’ Honey brands in Ireland in the latest Checkout/Nielsen ‘Top 100 Brands’ results just released.

“We are celebrating at Mileeven. It’s a real honour to be ranked for the first time as one of Ireland’s top five honey brands, particularly as a small producer. It’s a great boost to the team who have been working hard on our new Sainsbury’s listing which has been an excellent partnership for the Mileeven Fine Foods business and ‘Sarah’s Wonderful Honey’ brand”, said Sarah Gough, founder of ‘Sarah’s Wonderful Honey’.

“We developed the Sarah’s Wonderful Honey range to offer something new to the honey category and it is amazing to have all the hard work rewarded with a national listing in the UK with Sainsbury’s.”

Sainsbury’s now have on shelves ‘Sarah’s Zesty Honey with Ginger’ and ‘Sarah’s Fruity Acacia Honey with Mixed Berries’ – a new product developed exclusively for the retailer. This new product, proving one of the most popular yet in taste tests, will also be available on Mileeven.com later this year.

Sarah’s Wonderful Honey was the first-to-market with its range of speciality honeys. It is a multi-purpose product using pure, natural honey with real fruit or nut pieces and can be used as a spread, for cooking, glazes and delicious as dessert toppings. The new ‘Sarah’s Fruity Acacia Honey with Mixed Berries’ brings the range to ten, including honeys with ginger, cinnamon, lemon, orange, sour cherries, walnuts, blueberries, raspberries and mango.

Sarah’s Wonderful Honey range has increased exports of its parent company, Mileeven Fine Foods by 15 per cent. Following an initial investment of €100,000 in 2011, Sarah’s Wonderful Honey range has experienced significant growth over the past five years and is now available in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, the UAE, US, Hong Kong and Korea. The range has received numerous awards in Ireland, the UK and Dubai and is listed in some of the world’s leading food halls including Dean & Deluca.

An award-winning family business located the in picturesque countryside of Piltown, Co. Kilkenny, Mileeven Fine Foods produces honey, organic preserves and fine foods. It is one of the few mother-daughter businesses in Ireland and founder, Éilis Gough, runs the business alongside her daughter Sarah.
