Sadie’s Kitchen Food Entrepreneur Sarah Kiely Wows on Dragon’s Den

Popular RTE show Dragon’s Den has returned for it’s 8th series, and food lovers will be delighted to see health food entrepreneur Sarah Kiely making her mark. Having given an excellent presentation of her bone broth brand Sadie’s Kitchen, Dragon Alison Cowzer invested €50,000 into the young health food company in return for a 20% shareholding stake.

Speaking on her elation at such a successful pitch, Sarah said “The entire experience on the Den was amazing. The Dragon’s really put me through the wringer, but I loved every second of it. To get backing from Alison, who is so influential and experienced in the food industry, was one of the best moments so far on the Sadie’s Kitchen journey. I’m so excited to build our brand and expand the business together”.

Alison Cowzer is co-founder and Marketing/Innovation Director of East Coast Bakehouse. This is Alison’s second year as a Dragon and she immediately saw the potential in Sarah and Sadie’s Kitchen. “There’s no doubt that Sarah is a stand-out food entrepreneur. Her pitch was one of the best we saw in the Den this year and all 5 Dragons were hugely impressed with her business acumen, her drive and above all her product range. I’m thrilled with my investment in Sadie’s Kitchen, I’m really looking forward to working with Sarah to build the business into a star performer in the Irish Food Industry,” Alison said.

Bone broth is one of the most sought after products in the food and health world right now, slow cooked to extract the maximum nutritional benefits and flavor, it is often referred to as ‘liquid gold’. This nutritionally concentrated food has been used for generations to soothe and comfort and is catching on across the country.

Having come back from a shock redundancy in 2015, Sarah reveals the journey has been beyond expectations “To go from losing your job, to starting your own company and gaining investment from one of the country’s top business people is beyond anything I could have expected.”

There are big plans underway for Sadie’s Kitchen, with an expansion of the range to include a delicious and nutrient packed bone broth Super Green Soup in April 2017. Sarah has dedicated a quarter of the business to maximising export opportunities and getting her healthy and innovative products into more people’s hands, and Sadie’s Kitchen has received significant interest retailers in Switzerland and Northern Europe.

Sadie’s Kitchen Bone Broth, €4.50 for a 350ml pouch, is available from selected Supervalu, Avoca, Dunnes Stores and fine food markets nationwide. See www.sadieskitchen.ie for full stockist list.
