New Cafe, Bar & Late Night Venue The Stone Leaf Opens on Leeson Street – plus Launch Day Photos

The Stone Leaf on Lower Leeson Street officially opened its grey Georgian door this week on Lower Leeson Street. The new venue, spread over three floors and four sprawling rooms, includes a café, gastro pub, terrace bar and late night venue.

The café is already buzzing, serving fresh pastries, gourmet sandwiches and salads as well as fresh juices, Silverskin coffee and over 300 varieties of loose-leaf teas to Dublin 2’s discerning diners.

The ground floor bar and terrace serves a gastro menu including its signature dish – The Stone Leaf Burger, topped with turf-smoked bacon and crispy onions, as well as lighter bites, delicious sides and sumptuous desserts.

The bar will open on Friday and Saturday nights with special guest DJ’s including Vogue Williams, who attended the launch, on the decks until late. The heated terrace includes a Winnebago, fresh flowers and a bespoke bar, making it as appealing on a hot summer day as it is late into the night.

A fine dining restaurant will open in August on the second floor, bringing a new culinary experience to Dublin 2. The head chef, Michael Hunter, formerly of Scholars, L’Ecrivain and Monart, will use his experience to bring diners interpretations of classic dishes with a focus on simple food cooked really well.

Award winning VIP venue host, Richard McDermott is behind the new venture. Richard, formerlly of Buck’s Townhouse fame and Oolong Flower Power tea rooms on Stephen’s Street has a strong vision of what the future of Irish socialising is. Speaking at the launch, Richard said “the night-club as we know it has had it’s day. People are looking for more from a night out. They want to go somewhere they can enjoy a great meal and not have to move too far for a cocktail or drink afterwards. We can offer a great night out, with delicious food, drinks and music.”
