Nestlé Staff Raise €108,000 for Irish Autism Action

In 2014 confection giant Nestlé Ireland created a corporate responsibility partnership with Irish Autism Action.

Figures released today have revealed that this partnership has so far raised over €108,000 through employee initiatives, events and other fundraising activities including marathons, fun walks, cinema screenings, mountain climbs, golf classics, cycles, quiz nights, Santa days and bake-offs.

700 employees from Nestlé Ireland HQ in Dublin and their Wyeth Nutrition plant in Askeaton, Co. Limerick raised the staggering amount of money which provides almost 4,000 hours of support for vital autism services across the country.

Speaking about the partnership, Kevin Whelan, Chief Executive of Irish Autism Action said that Nestlé and its staff have played a vital role as Irish Autism Action doesn’t get state funding for the services it provides.

According to the IAA, one in every hundred people in Ireland is affected by autism and their services bring early intervention and practical educational support to children with autism and their families.
