Visit the Majestic Munster Vales – Ireland’s Newest Outdoor Tourist Attraction

The Munster Vales, Ireland’s newest tourist attraction, takes you on a journey through the mountains of south east Ireland.

Incorporating 96 attractions, nine heritage sites and 1,100km of walking trails, this tour crosses through four counties – Tipperary, Limerick, Cork and Waterford.

The whole idea behind the attraction, which takes in the Comeraghs, Knockmealdowns, Galtees, Ballyhouras and Nagles, is to promote “Ireland’s key inland visitor destination”.

According to their site, the Munster Vales “lie in the historic heartland of Ireland, it’s a 1,100 kilometre stretch of olden routes and timeworn trails that rise in the mid-west and sweep southward through five mountain ranges and on to the wild Irish Sea.”

Also included in the new 46km Waterford Greenway, Ireland’s longest off-road cycling trail.

Commenting on the launch, Sinead Carr, Chairperson of Munster Vales, said: “The vision for the Munster Vales tourism proposition is to promote this geographical entity as a place that provides unique tourism experiences and activities, which are swathed in legendary and ancient folklore, in a consistent and easily legible manner for the tourist.”

She added: “By co-operating and collaborating as one entity, it is hoped that a consistent brand will not only increase the socio-economic benefits of tourism in the region but more importantly provide an enhanced visitor experience.”
