ROOMS AT MOUNT JULIET ESTATE

Manor House Rooms

Mount Juliet’s tradition of hospitality dates back to the 18th Century, when young Somerset Butler and his new bride Juliet moved into the newly refurbished house, renamed in her honour. Over the years a great many illustrious people have dined, fished and hunted before resting in one of her 31 sumptuous bedrooms, which are named after a select few previous guests – The King of Ossory, The Black Earl, Lady Juliana and Fitzwilliam Le Gros. Mount Juliet was designed during the Georgian era, so you’ll find the rooms as bright and as generously proportioned as they are luxurious. Each individually decorated room is equipped with the latest technology and conveniences.

Hunter’s Yard Rooms

In the days before tractors, when Mount Juliet Estate was a working farm of several thousand acres, a great many people were employed and housed on the Estate. Back then, Hunter’s Yard would have had horses and hay lofts, as well as lodgings for the grooms, coachmen and stable boys. Today, this elegant courtyard, just five minutes walk from the main house, is home to 16 bright, spacious rooms. A tranquil hideaway adjacent to the Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and only a few paces from the treatment rooms, the swimming pool and the tempting menus of both Kendal’s Brasserie Style Restaurant and The President’s Bar, which offers all day dining, snacks and a grill menu.

Rose Garden Lodges

Most of the time, the perfect break means a few days of effortless luxury and pampering, with everything you want available at the ring of a bell. Then there are the times you want a home from home – an independent place to call your own, whether its just yourselves, with the family or with friends. The Rose Garden Lodges are spacious, secluded, elegant and, as their name suggests, they are set in beautiful parkland. Each lodge has two en-suite bedrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen, so you can cater for yourselves or avail of the hotel’s services, as the mood takes you.

Chauffeur’s Lodge

The Chauffeur’s Lodge is a state-of-the-art sanctuary, far from the madding crowd, with its own sun terraces, luxury lounge and bespoke kitchen – allowing you to choose between self-catering and the temptations of the hotel’s dining room. And despite its old world charm, The Chauffeur’s Lodge is fully equipped with every high-tech convenience – including an entertainment system with iPod docking and a flat screen TV.

THE LADY HELEN RESTAURANT AT MOUNT JULIET ESTATE

Lady Helen McCalmont, the previous owner of Mount Juliet, was a superb hostess who oversaw the gardens and kitchens with a kindly but firm hand. The team work hard to maintain her high standards and the restaurant bearing her name now bears a Michelin Star, along with three AA Rosettes.

The internationally-themed menu consists of dishes made using local ingredients, including many from the kitchen garden, herb garden and farm. The atmosphere of opulence within the Lady Helen Restaurant complements the pastoral views out over the pastures to the River Nore, racing its way south to Inistioge.

Ken Harker is Head Chef at The Lady Helen Restaurant where he and his team have retained their Michelin Star – one of only eleven restaurants in Ireland to do so. As someone with a reputation for presenting some of Ireland’s most exciting dishes, Ken’s attitude to food is pragmatic. “Taste is everything”, he believes. “A kitchen that strives for honesty and great taste can’t go wrong.”
