Michelin Announces First Guide to Shanghai Where You Can Eat Michelin Star Food for Just €6

Michelin released the first edition of the Michelin Guide Shanghai this week, naming one three-star, seven two-star and 18 one-star restaurants in China’s financial capital.

A coveted three stars were awarded to The T’ang Court restaurant of the Langham Hotel. The only restaurant to get the top rating,  The T’ang Court restaurant has only has six tables and serves a mix of classic and modern Catonese dishes. The Michelin Guide that that 270RMB (€36) is the minimum price per person to dine at the restaurant, where you can chose specialities such as braised sea cucumber with dried longan, and sautéed Wagyu with organic mushrooms.

Seven restaurants have been awarded two Michelin stars. Among them is Canton 8, where you can sample dim sum and fine Cantonese cuisine at lunch time for as little as 48RMB (€6)- making it the world’s cheapest Michelin two-star restaurant.

Others to scoop two stars were Umberto Bombana’s 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana, known for its fine-dining Italian cuisine, and Ultraviolet, which enhances the dining experience by projecting images on its walls, playing music and pumping fragrances into the dining room.

In addition to the Michelin-starred restaurants, 25 restaurants received a ‘Bib Gourmand’ for ‘exceptional good food at moderate prices’, with prices averaging at 200RMB (€27) per person.
