Marlfield House Hotel & The Duck Terrace Restaurant, Co Wexford is Bord Bia’s Just Ask Restaurant of the Month
Marlfield House Hotel & The Duck Terrace Restaurant, in Gorey, Co. Wexford has been awarded Just Ask Restaurant of the Month for October. The elegant regency house set in 40 acres of immaculately maintained gardens and woodland was established by Ray and Mary Bowe in 1978 and is now run by their daughters, Margaret and Laura.
The fine dining Conservatory Restaurant in Marlfield is renowned for its cuisine. The Duck Terrace Restaurant was opened in 2015 in restored courtyard buildings and offers diners a more casual option.
Bord Bia’s Just Ask campaign is currently on its seventh year and it has been wholeheartedly embraced by the restaurant trade. It encourages diners to look for information about the origin of the ingredients in their meals, and motivates chefs to profile local suppliers. The initiative rewards eateries across Ireland that show best practice in showing transparency in the sourcing of the food on their menus.
According to Margaret Bowe, “Our talented chefs cook using fresh and exciting ingredients from our own kitchen garden, along with fresh meat and seafood from the locality. All of our fresh meat is 100% Irish and we are proud to list our valued suppliers on our website and also our menus.”
