The Selfridges ‘Meet the Chef’ series was opened last week by Irish chef Mark Moriarty, who was recently awarded the title of San Pellegrino Young Chef of the Year.
Mark hosted a ‘Best of Ireland’ dinner showcasing Irish produce and cuisine with an original twist. Mark finds inspiration in classic recipes, both Irish and international. By taking the concrete flavours of these classics and adding theatre and a comfortable atmosphere, his guests are treated to a truly Irish culinary experience.
Tourism Ireland invited three influential food bloggers and photographers Guilia Mulé, Jo Yee and Leyla Kazim to come and sample the Irish cuisine and Mark’s five-course tasting menu which included salted cod cigars, house-smoked salmon which was done on Selfridges’ roof earlier that day, his signature celeriac, hay and hazelnut dish, Guinness porridge and petit fours including a spiced fudge and a hot whiskey gel.
For Meet The Makers, Selfridges are bringing together some of the British Isles’ most exciting chefs with expert foragers who will provide wild and wonderful ingredients for each of the menus. These unique one-off dining events are an unmissable opportunity to taste food from the most talked-about chefs of the moment.
