A Spicy Aussie Shiraz at a Great Value to Warm you Up this Winter
While we’re reading about the possibility of snow (but rarely seeing any), the southern hemisphere is enjoying the wonders of summer. Christmas in Australia marks the beginning of summer and it’s a season for barbecues, beach parties and long days of fun…
Feel like booking a ticket already? So do I. While organising a trip Down Under is tempting but quite challenging, getting a fine bottle of their sunny lands is an easier way to let the sunshine in.
Longview Yakka Shiraz 2015 is a concentrated and full bodied winter warmer from Australia’s prestigious wine region Adelaide Hills.
Aromas of ripe blackberries, toasted cocoa nibs, roasted coffee, clove, cinnamon and pepper converge and continue on the palate with the wrapping pleasantness of well-rounded, powerful tannins.
Even at 14.5% ABV, the wine feels light and balanced thanks to the richness of its flavours and it’s robust structure.
While it’d be almost cruel to suggest pairing it with BBQ in the middle of winter, it would work brilliantly well with it. However, give it a go with steak or with lamb dishes.
Longview Yakka Shiraz 2015 is available at O’Briens Wine for €14.95 (on offer from €19.95).
