London’s Connaught Bar Chosen as the World’s Best Bar
Last week at the Tales of the Cocktail festival’s 10th Annual Spirited Awards in New Orleans, London’s Connaught Bar was awarded World’s Best Cocktail Bar.
The bar, inspired by English Cubist and Irish 1920s art, features an ultra-stylish atmosphere, with textured walls shimmering in platinum silver leaf overlaid with dusty pink, pistachio and lilac. Their cocktail menu is a fusion of tradition and innovation using exclusive vintages and limited edition champagnes, spirits and liqueurs.
As reported on finedininglovers.com, other Londoners acknowledged at the competition were The American Bar at The Savoy (Best International Bar Team), Happiness Forgets (Best International Cocktail Bar), Hawksmoor, Spitalfields (Best International Restaurant Bar) and Ryan Chetiyawardana of Danelyon (World’s Best Cocktail Menu).
Four out of eight nominees for the top awards were UK based. The Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards are recognised as the “Oscars of the drinks world” and are celebrated once a year in New Orleans. Besides the awards, the occasion gathers people from the drinks industry at workshops, masterclasses, tasting and networking events. This year the awards got a record breaking amount of entrants and participants were judged by a panel of over 100 experts.
