Le Pain Quotidien in Kildare Village Named Bord Bia Just Ask Restaurant of the Month

Le Pain Quotidien, located in designer outlet destination Kildare Village has been awarded Just Ask Restaurant of the Month for November. Belgian chef and baker Alain Coumont has brought his philosophy of seasonal, organic and local produce to more than 230 restaurants worldwide and the Kildare Village restaurant exemplifies this.

Currently in its seventh year, the Just Ask campaign has been wholeheartedly embraced by the restaurant trade. The campaign encourages diners to look for information on where food on their plate comes from, and encourages chefs to profile their local suppliers on menus. Selected by renowned food writer Georgina Campbell and Bord Bia, the Just Ask Restaurant of the Month rewards eateries across Ireland that exhibit best practices in showing transparency in the sourcing of the food on their menus.

In Kildare Village, Le Pain Quotidien is a charming restaurant where food is served at a big communal table that is centre to the Le Pain Quotidien philosophy, with some smaller tables positioned to the side. The shop features recycled wooden furniture and tiled walls and floors, where guests can purchase from a fresh selection of organic breads, pastries, cookies and preserves prepared daily in the kitchens.

According to General Manager, Donna Doyle, “We choose our producers with care, keeping it local wherever possible. It’s important to us that they share the same love, passion and commitment to quality as we do. We’re all for stocking our kitchens with the best organic and local products.”

“Our organic sourdough bread is baked by Thibault of Tartine Bakery in Dublin. Our cooked chicken is 100% Irish and produced to our bespoke recipe by Shannonvale in Co. Cork. Keelings Farm Fresh in Co. Dublin supply us will all our fresh produce and we source organic eggs from Connollys – Ireland’s largest organic egg producer and packer.”

“Our porridge is from Flahavans and our milk from Organic 4U in Donegal. We have delicious ice-cream from Featherbed Farm in Co. Wexford and a range of gluten free options from Foods of Athenry. We also serve a selection of excellent Irish cheeses, alongside some great local beers and ciders”.

“While the business is now an international phenomenon, its USPs are local, seasonal and organic”, commented Georgina Campbell. “It’s taken some 25 years for Le Pain Quotidien to reach Irish shores, but the good news for Irish fans is that they can now enjoy this global restaurant chain’s signature rustic loaves and wholesome fare around communal tables in Kildare Village.”
