Carton House the fine five-star Georgian estate in Kildare, surrounded by 1,100 acres of  sweeping parkland, ancient woodlands, lakes and the meandering River Rye has everything  needed for a luxurious getaway just 25 minutes from Dublin.

Savour Sunday afternoons with a luxurious leisurely lunch in the unique and historical  surrounds of The Morrison Room, one of Ireland’s grandest dining rooms overlooking the  stunning rose garden in bloom at this time of year and taking in the same views that have  captivated visitors to the estate for centuries.

Guests will enjoy carefully curated dishes from Head Chef Charles Degrendele and his team,  starting with pâté en croûte with honey mustard and pickles or baked and pickled beetroot  with St. Tola goat curd, black garlic and pine nuts, followed by mains of John Stone lamb loin  with pomme boulangère, carrots and jus, catch of the day, fillet of fish with pomme fondant,  broccoli and marinière sauce or gnocchi parmesan with pesto, tomato and pine nuts, with  dessert choices of chocolate cloud truffle chocolate cake, berries & velvet cloud sheep yogurt  sorbet or The Morrison Room’s guest favourite ‘Apple’ cheesecake dessert or a cheese  selection to complete your Sunday indulgence.

Available on Sundays with sittings at 1.30pm and 2.30pm costing €60 per person, make the  most of your afternoon with a stroll on the grounds pre or post lunch, with bicycles available  for guests, or spend some time sipping cocktails in The Courtyard Bar or outdoor terrace, taking  in the historical estate.

Guests can choose to extend their Carton House experience with a Sunday sleepover with  rooms in The Garden Wing from €360 for two adults sharing or in The House from €840 for  two adults sharing and includes breakfast the following morning.

Carton House was built in 1739, making it the oldest Fairmont property in a global collection  famed for its grande dame hotels, including the iconic Savoy in London and St. Andrews in  Scotland, and is the first Fairmont hotel in Ireland.
