Kinsale Mead offer some great ideas for Valentine’s Weekend

If you fancy doing something a little offbeat with the person that you fancy this lockdown Valentine’s, Kinsale Mead Co. have some suggestions to help.

Book yourself and your beloved now into the virtual mead tasting on Valentine’s Eve, for Saturday 13th February at 7pm and soon your tasting kits each containing four of Kinsale Mead Co.’s multi-award winning meads and four Kokos Chocolates will be winging their way to your door.

Or are you looking for a Valentine’s gift that will both weaken the knees and quicken the heart of your loved one? They have an exclusive gift pack of a bottle of mead and a box of chocolates that would make anyone smile.

“Mead and chocolates, what’s not to like?” says Kate Dempsey, mead-maker and co-founder of Kinsale Mead Co. “We adore the artisan chocolates made by Frank in Kokos of Kinsale and we love pairing his creations with our amazing meads. So we thought, let’s bring them together.”

The best way to learn about mead is to drink it and where better to spend quality time with your sweetheart than sipping on the drink of the High Kings and Queens of Ireland along with some carefully selected, artisan chocolates? Or maybe you just want to treat yourself.

“We’re calling it our “Bee Mine” talk,” explains Denis Dempsey, co-founder and mead-maker. “We have lots of fun stories of mead and honey to share and some great ideas for food and mead pairing. Even some mead cocktails.”

There are suggestions for easy-to-prepare snacks to pair with each mead, savoury and sweet. You can make up a starter platter or full-on feast at home to nibble on as they guide you through the tasting; each of the four meads are paired with one chocolate. They even provide a tasting card to keep notes to decide on your favourite mead and an enticing discount for your next online purchase.

“Our Wild Red Mead in particular with its flavours from Wexford blackcurrants and dark cherries really complements chocolate, bringing out the fruitiness of the cocoa bean,” says Kate. “Try melting chocolate on your tongue and then taking a sip of mead. Absolutely divine!”

Celebrate the love with the unique flavours of Kinsale Mead paired with a box of delectable chocolates. Kinsale Meads are sustainably made in small batches at Ireland’s first meadery in 200 years and Kokos finest chocolates are hand made by Frank, both in the historic and food-loving town of Kinsale at the start of the Wild Atlantic Way in West Cork.

From Kinsale with love.
