Keeping Hearts Healthy – M&S First Reatiler to Launch Cholesterol Lowering Meals

M&S is launching a delicious new range of Active Health prepared meals, specifically developed to actively reduce cholesterol and keep hearts healthy alongside a balanced diet.

Every dish contains oat beta glucan, a type of fibre which is naturally found in oats and helps to reduce cholesterol. Experts recommend 3g of oat beta glucan per day to maintain a healthy heart and these prepared meals provide a convenient way to have at least 1g, a third of your daily intake.

M&S has developed the range which is supported by HEART UK, the cholesterol charity. Not only are the meals cholesterol lowering, they are also labelled as ‘Eat Well’ as they are low in saturated fat, balanced for calories and packed full of wholesome ingredients including oats, fish, lean protein and at least one portion of vegetables.

Emma Broughton, M&S Product Developer, says: “We want to make healthy eating as easy and delicious as possible for our customers and our new range of Active Health meals do exactly that. Diet can play a key role in keeping your heart healthy and we’ve used a key ingredient, oat beta glucan, which naturally lowers cholesterol to create these tasty dishes – from comfort food favourites to exciting new flavours.’ The prepared meals extend the retailer’s Active Health range, which already includes cereals, juices and yoghurts, developed to give a healthy diet a boost.

Some of the exciting dishes in the Keeping Hearts Healthy range include Red Thai Chicken Noodles, Moroccan Spiced Meatballs with Quinoa Cous Cous and Five Spice Pork with Chilli Rice as well home comforts Slow Cooked Beef & Vegetable Hot Pot and Chicken Coq au Vin & Cheddar Cobblers.
