Meet Irish Distillers at This Exciting Pop-Up Series For Whiskey Lovers

Calling all whiskey lovers. The Irish Whiskey Museum is hosting a series of distillery pop-ups in their Victorian Bar overlooking Trinity College Dublin.

Lovers of a glass or two of uisce beatha will get the chance to not only sample different brands of whiskey, but also meet a variety of distillers.

From their new distillery on the grounds of the legendary Slane Castle, Slane Irish Whiskey will begin the series on Wednesday May 16th.

Guests will sample their perfect pour, Slane Rocks, and learn about the versatility of Slane Irish Whiskey through a cocktail demonstration delivered by co-founder Alex Conyngham and Slane brand ambassador, Will Lynch.

Born in the heart of the Boyne Valley, Slane Irish Whiskey is a smooth spirit of natural character with untamed notes of oak and spice from a signature triple casked blend. A complex flavour, these initial notes are then sweetened with hints of caramel, vanilla and butterscotch.

Peter Mulryan of Blackwater Distillery will be next in the series on Thursday, June 21st. The first distillery in Waterford in 174 years, they have launched a series of hugely successful gins, including their flagship No.5 Small Batch Gin and the delicious Wexford Strawberry Gin.

Guests will also be treated to the secret history of Absinthe: The Green Fairy. A precursor to the ‘Happy Hour’ known today, L’Heure Verte (5pm) transformed 19th century cafes into marvellous meetings of creative and artistic minds who all favoured the infamous Green Fairy. So go ‘In Seine’ with Ireland’s first absinthe and learn more about the world’s most vilified spirit.

From Waterford to Castlelyons in Cork, the third pop-up at the Irish Whiskey Museum sees Ballyvolane House Spirits Company bring Bertha’s Revenge Small Batch Milk Gin to Dublin for a special B&T (Bertha’s & Tonic) tasting just in time to quench the July heat.

A hand-crafted gin which uses whey alcohol from Irish dairy farmers, the natural spring water from Ballyvolane House and incorporating an interesting mix of 18 locally foraged and grown botanicals, Bertha’s Revenge is designed to celebrate the life of a very special cow.

On Thursday July 26th, co-founder Antony Jackson will guide guests through the history of Bertha – a Guinness World Record-holder as the oldest cow ever recorded, passing away just three months short of her 49th birthday – along with tips on how to make the perfect B&T.

Tickets are priced at €15 per person and can be purchased at irishwhiskeymuseum.ie.
