Cook this Page: Ikea’s Unique Style Makes Life Easier in this Fool-Proof Recipe Series

Ikea’s minimalistic style is world-famous and their graphic and ultra tidy-looking manuals make us feel confident about assembling pretty much anything. Now they’ve teamed up with advertising agency Leo Burnett and have added food into the mix with the ingenious “Cook this Page” recipe series which are printed on parchment paper and feature illustrated spaces where to place the ingredients to then bake.

The recipes were launched at an Ikea kitchen event in Canada, were attendees were able to take the pages home and shortly after the idea had gone viral.

“When it comes to cooking dinner, most people find new foods and recipes intimidating. So we set out to prove that getting creative in the kitchen can be deliciously simple” reads on the agency’s Canadian page.

With the recipes printed on cooking paper, people just had to fill in the ingredients blanks, roll it, cook it and eat! Illustrations were inspired by the dish and each recipe incorporated IKEA food items.”

Some of the tasty recipes available include baked lemon salmon, garlic shrimp and raspberry rhubarb dessert.

The technique of placing ingredients on parchment paper to then introduce them into the oven is not new; known as en papillote in French or al cartoccio in Italian, is an easy to follow cooking method that has the added benefit of a very simple cleanup. Ikea and Leo Burnett have innovated by adding a design to the page, to help even the most inexperienced home cooks achieve good results.
