Iceland could soon have a new luxury spa resort that appears to disappear into its surroundings so you don’t feel like you’ve left the beautiful outdoor scenery.

The design firm Johannes Torpe are behind the proposed spa resort, which wouldn’t become available to guests until the last possible second.

According to Johannes Torpe, the Red Mountain Resort would be hidden by mountains and volcanoes until it ‘magically’ emerges from the land.

Head of Architecture Kit Sand Ottsen, said: “We wanted to create a building that has the potential to encapsulate a sense of timelessness through the utilisation of historical construction techniques and the incorporation of elements from the landscape of which it is built.”

The resort will include a 150-room hotel, artist residences, 20 bungalows, a restaurant and an expansive spa, designed to take guests on a “transformational journey”.
