Hang Dai, Dublin’s coolest Chinese restaurant, launches its new lunchtime menu today. As revealed on their Facebook yesterday evening, to celebrate the new ‘Hang Dai Lunchbox’ the restaurant is giving away 100 free meals, one lunchbox per person, from 12pm today from their base on Camden Street.
Since Hang Dai opened bookings have been hard to come by, with the restaurant announcing in the first month that a wait-list of over 1,500 curious customers. The new lunch service will give many more food lovers the chance to try chef patron Karl Whelan‘s innovative take on Chinese food that has taken the Dublin dining scene by storm.
Each day via their Instagram account Hang Dai will announce the five daily specials on the menu, all priced between €9 and €13, including rice or noodles.
You can expect food inspired by popular dishes on their dinner menu like Egg Fried Rice Mushroom Black Truffle Miso Mayo, Szechuan Kung Po Chicken, and Pork Dumplings Sweet Soy Chinese Chive.
Fans of Karl’s cooking will be hoping there will also be a taste of Hang Dai’s signature Beijing style duck, which is roasted whole in the restaurant’s apple wood fired oven.
The new lunchtime set up will allow diners to order their lunch at the hatch, take a ticket, and then ‘grab n’ go.’Don’t have to be back at your desk pronto? You can also ‘chill n’eat’ in the very cool surroundings, designed in the guise of a Chinese subway. Either way this won’t be your average lunch break.
The new lunch service is available from 12pm to 2.30pm daily – though a quirky video released on Hang Dai’s Facebook page warns “get down early to avoid crushing disappointment.”
