Five star Adare Manor officially launched its redesigned immaculate golfing greens with a ceremonial exhibition match on April 20th 2018. The incredible match was witnessed by 1,500 excited spectators and featured golfing giants Roy McIlroy, Paul McGinley, Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry.
Each of the world class pair will donate €250,000 to their chosen charities including The McGinley Foundation, The Rory Foundation, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and the Padraig Harrington Charitable Foundation.
Speaking at the inaugural opening of The Golf Course at Adare Manor Rory McIlroy said “The Golf Course is absolutely incredible. With the weather we’ve had for the last few months, to have a course presented like this is phenomenal, so that’s credit to all of the work of the greens staff over the winter. It was a fantastic day.”
The four golfers cut the ribbon on the immaculate golf course and then it was announced that the JP McManus Pro-Am will return to Adare Manor in 2020.
Previously this high profile event has played host to Tiger Woods, 14 time Major winner and World Number 1 Dustin Johnson. The JP McManus Pro-Am has raised over €100 million for charity in its past five fund raising golf events.
The owners of Adare Manor, the McManus Family, commissioned a two year reconstruction of The Gold Course. The Par 72, 7,509 yard championship layout is now opening to golf lovers offering up a beautiful parkland style course.
World renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio has designed the gold course using top class products and practices, putting it on the map for global golf tourism.
The golf course in the first in Europe to feature Pure Distinction bentgrass, giving the course smooth and elevated green complexes. The course use the SubAir Aeration System, which removes moisture from the course guaranteeing a firm play each time.
Chief Executive Officer of Adare Manor, Colm Hannon, commented on the event saying “The Exhibition Match to officially open The Golf Course at Adare Manor has been a huge success and we owe a great deal of thanks to each of the players – Rory, Padraig, Paul and Shane – who have made this such an entertaining and memorable day for all of our guests.”
