Galway Chef Michele Kilkenny Wins This Year’s The Taste of Success

Galway Chef Michele Kilkenny was crowned winner of this year’s The Taste of Success on RTÉ One this evening. Facing strong competition from William Murray and James Kavanagh and their banana bread, Michele’s Chef Select Irish Beef Brisket Pie was the judges ultimate favourite, winning her a prize worth €100,000.

Michele’s winning dish is a modern Irish twist on the traditional cottage pie – a slow cooked beef brisket in a stout gravy topped with a creamy mash potato with white cheddar and a hint of grain mustard. It will be available exclusively at Lidl in all 149 stores nationwide from 8am today (14th December) priced at €2.79.

The Taste of Success

Speaking about her win on The Taste of Success, Michele Kilkenny said: “I still can’t believe this has happened. It all seems like a dream and hasn’t sunk in yet. It’s such a life changing experience and I can’t wait to finally do all the things I’ve always wanted to do or have put off. It’s like someone has lifted a huge weight off me. That feeling is priceless”.

Lidl Ireland Commercial Director Liam Casey said: “Right from the start we knew the ‘Paddy Pie’ had potential to sit under our existing Chef Select brand. We definitely feel that the Chef Select Irish Beef Brisket Pie is something that will appeal to our customers as it is a very homely dish with lots of warming ingredients. The constructive feedback from mentor JP was also instrumental in winning over the judging panel and I am sure our customers will be equally impressed”.
