A Trip West, Eating Bugs and Brunch for Yogis – Something for Everyone at The Fumbally Stables Events Series This September

After two successful years The Fumbally Stables is back with its annual eclectic line up of Irish food culture orientated workshops, talks and events.

Taking taking place this September and October the independently run and funded initiative series formerly known as The Autumn Series this year has been rebranded as EAT:ITH.

Though food lovers and curious citizens can expect to see the same style of exciting collaborations with some of the country’s most passionate producers, chefs, farmers, sommeliers, baristas, food writers and activists.

Ranging from free talks to ticketed events some of the highlights of this September’s schedule includes:

MOYHILL – A DAY TRIP TO THE WEST OF IRELAND

Moyhill CSA, run by former pro surfers Matt Smith and Mitch Corbett, have just launched an ambitious crowdfunding campaign in West Clare, looking for 300k in order to buy 60 acres of land to grow their community farm. Visit the farm on Sunday 17th September where you’ll have lunch and talk about community, growing food and sustainability, with €15 of every ticket will be donated to the campaign.

HOW TO BUY FISH

At this free event on Wednesday 20th September Fishmonger Nicholas Lynch will share his 25 year experience to explain the complexities of fish to you all, like where does our fish actually come from andhow can I tell if it is fresh or not?

PARENT AND CHILD PICKLING

On Saturday 16th September, for €30 The Stables invites you to learn how to pickle and ferment in a class that is specifically tailored for both kids and adults.

AYURVEDIC YOGA BRUNCH

Combining two fundamental branches of Vedic knowledge, Yoga and Ayurveda, in this workshop and brunch on Saturday 23rd September guests will be introduced you to the doshas, Vata, Pitta and Kapha and led through pranayama and asana practices that you can tailor to your individual constitution. After the yoga practice and talk yogis will share a meal cooked by Cian Waters, who will also talk about the various doshic qualities of the foods. Tickets cost €65.

FILM SCREENING – BUGS

We’ve all heard that we need to consider introducing protein rich, planet friendly bugs into our diets, and know you can get all the facts of this controversial topic in the first Irish screening of this documentary Bugs on Wednesday 27th September. Tickets cost €12.50.
