Staycation Anyone? These Four Luxury Properties Have Been Added to Ireland’s Blue Book

Ireland’s Blue Book has been the definitive guide to charming and unique destinations across the country since 1974. Viewed as the gold standard classification of classic hotels, country houses and restaurants across the country, the Blue Book will today announce the addition of four new members for 2018. The association admits only the highest standard of property displaying the criteria of uniqueness and environmental awareness.

On top of three new additions last year to the already impressive listing of gems such as Ballymaloe House, Mount Juliet Estate and L’Ecrivain, the 2018 collection will include four new members you will definitely want to visit.

Donegal’s Castlegrove House is a charming Georgian house overlooking Lough Swilly set on a 200 acre private estate, offering a Northern haven of tranquility and is home to the RAI Best Hotel Restaurant in Donegal.

There are few places in the country quite as memorable as the five star Glenlo Abbey in Galway, which boasts The Pullman Restaurant, a restored Orient Express carriage which offers a dining experience like no other.

Renowned Irish chef Richard Corrigan’s Virginia Park Lodge in Cavan has also made the 2018 list, putting the stunning historical property on the map as a must-visit culinary destination.

Killadangan House joins Belleek Castle, The Ice HouseClare Island LighthouseNewport House and Enniscoe House as Mayo’s newest member, and is located on the outskirts of Westport, overlooking picturesque Clew Bay.

The announcement of these new members will take place at the Blue Book’s AGM, which is being held at Castle Leslie Estate in Monaghan today, bringing the prestigious collection to 54 members.
