There’s a Four Day Gin Fest Coming to Galway this Summer and We’ll Drink to That
Gin-thusiasts, rejoice! Galway’s Latin Quarter will play host to Gin Fest, a four day celebration of all things related to Gin & Tonic from Thursday 7th – Sunday 10th June 2018, with the pinnacle of the festival being World Gin Day on Saturday 9th June.
Promising a weekend of gin-joyment, a range of fun and interactive events will be taking place in the bars and venues throughout the Latin Quarter including a fabulous Gin Cruise, Gin Foraging, a Gin Village, Distillery Visits, Master Classes and Tastings, Gin Trails, Gin and Food Pairings, Gin Cocktails and Competitions, New Gin Launches and Gin Experientials – if you love gin, you’ll be in heaven.
A selection of your favourite gin brands will be showcasing at The Latin Quarter Gin Fest, from Bombay Sapphire to Hendricks to Tanqueray 10, with Fever Tree and Schweppes to match. More gin brands will be announced as the festival draws nearer, but rest assured it will be unmissable. TheTaste’s MD and resident gin-thusiast Keith Mahon will also be on hand to launch the festival as a special guest.
The focus of the festival is to encourage people to try a variety of gin and tonic brands now available on the market, served in Galway’s top bars and restaurants. The educational side of gin-making for both the trade and public will also be highlighted, and visitors can learn about the perfect serve when choosing garnishes and how tonics enhance the flavour of their drink. Basically you’ll be a ‘ginius’ at the end of the festiva!!
The Latin Quarter is the social and cultural heart of Galway city where locals socialise and it draws thousands of visitors every year. The area is also home to many of the city’s quirkiest and best-known pubs, restaurants, shops and hotels with pedestrianised streets, buskers and a festival-like vibe all year round.
A full programme of events is coming soon, so keep an eye on The Latin Quarter on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, visit www.thelatinquarter.ie or email firstname.lastname@example.org for queries.
