Mayo’s Food Fleadh Rescheduled to Accommodate All Ireland Semi Final Replay

Ballina’s Food Fleadh was set to return this coming weekend, the 25th-27th of August, but has been rescheduled to September 8th-9th  following the county’s thrilling draw against Kerry in the All-Ireland Football Final.

The official statement on the festival’s Facebook page reads:

“In what are exceptional times for Mayo GAA, Food Fleadh Ballina committee and Yeast Meets West Brew Fest have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s festival due to Mayo GAA’s scheduled replay against Kerry on Saturday, 26th September.”

The three-day event will be worth the wait however. Attendees can expect to experience food demonstrations, a Ready Steady Cook show, children’s cookery classes, a home-brewed Craft Brew Festival, cocktail-making demos, whiskey tasting and more.

The festival’s exciting main event, the Food Fleadh Market, takes place on Saturday in the historic Military Barracks. Browse a selection of delicious produce under the protective canopy – so even rain won’t disturb the fun.

Food businesses in attendance include Belleek Castle and Luskin’s Bistro and Wine Bar, as well as a number of local artisan producers.

Speaking about this weekend’s festival, Ballina Chamber Vice-President and Food Fleadh Ballina Chairman, Gerry Luskin said:

“This is the place to be for all you foodies out there. Meet the chef from your favourite restaurant or let the local artisan producer tell you the history of their local natural food product.

We are delighted to bring together all these talented people to showcase their produce on the one day. Having so many talented chefs and food producers makes us very proud to be from this beautiful region and to miss this gastronomic experience would be a shame. Hope to see you all there and happy cooking!”
