We have put together a list of some of our favourite Christmas Markets throughout Ireland. The perfect excuse to wrap up warm and spend an afternoon catching up with family and friends while sipping a hot chocolate supporting some of our islands finest makers. People are at the heart of making Christmas special and will ensure your ‘Christmas Feels’ level is at an all time high.


Cathedral Square Market and Arundel Square Market at Winterval

Waterford, home of Winteval may well be Ireland’s Christmas capital. This winter festival runs throughout the month of December until December 23rd and there is a LOT going on.  Fancy breakfast or afternoon tea with the big man himself? No problem. A spot of ice skating or an outdoor cinema experience? But of course. Festive Christmas Markets? Yup, got those too. With two to choose from there is something for everyone Pick up a treat as you stroll around the stalls, searching for that perfect Christmas gift or grab a bite and a mulled wine while you watch Winterval Illuminates or listen to carols from the festive Christmas choirs.

The Galway Christmas Markets

One of the most popular in the country and the longest running Christmas market on the island, the Galway Christmas Market runs until December 22nd. Spanning across the city from Eyre Square to Spanish Arch there will be over 50 stalls taking part, there is even a beer tent. Munich be damned, Galway is where it’s at.

Glow Cork

Until December 22nd, Corks Bishop Lucey Park and the Grand Parade will be home to Cork’s Christmas Market. Think vintage carousel rides, mulled wine, carol singers and delicious food and drink from local suppliers.

The Wicklow Christmas Market

Two words. Alpaca. Experience. Reason enough to check out this new kid on the block, Wicklow’s Christmas market, which runs until December 15th at The Abbey Grounds in Wicklow town. There will be a Ski Lodge Bar, Santa Express, Food & Drink and even Gingerbread Workshops.

Dublin Castle Christmas Market

Running until December 22nd, this boutique open air market is the first of its kind to grace Dublin Castle and it sounds very festive indeed. There will be festive food and drink, artisan craft stalls, a Neapolitan crib, carol singing, vintage carousels, a chance to meet characters from the Nutcracker and carriage rides at weekends. Churros, crêpes and burgers, what more does a body need.
