Award-winning sommelier Nick Faujours, has created an exciting weekend of masterclasses, wine tastings and dinner, centred around three interesting wine stories. The stories will be based around that of Sinead and Liam Cabot, Róisín Curley and Simon Tyrell.
The weekend of Irish winemakers will take place in the luxurious surrounds of Knockranny House Hotel on 16th-17th November. On the first evening, guests will get an introduction to wine tasting with Sinéad Cabot in the stylish bar at Knockranny, followed by dinner at your leisure in the bar or in La Fougère.
The first masterclass will be hosted by Róisín Curley. The Mayo native and pharmacist is a winemaker, making small-scale wines in the French region of Burgundy. Róisín has trained in some of the most prestigious vineyards including Château Latour and Château Grillet.
The second masterclass will be lead by Simon Tyrell of Tyrrell & Company. Run by husband and wife team, Simon and Emma, they have become a supplier of quality artisan wines, with great emphasis on the Rhône Valley.
Sinéad and Liam Cabot will head up the third class. The wine merchants based in Westport distribute a selection of hand-picked wines to retailers, hotels and restaurants in Ireland. Since 2011, they have produced wines from the Stajerska region of eastern Slovenia, from a 1.5-hectare vineyard.
Each masterclass is 45 minutes, with the winemakers showcasing some of their finest vintages followed by a pre-dinner tasting. Tickets for this event start from €199 per person sharing and include dinner in the award-winning La Fougère, two nights B&B, a wine tasting three masterclasses and a walk around tasting.
