National Gin Day is taking place on June 9th and we can’t wait. Cullen’s at the Cottage is also bursting with excitement for this gin-infused day and has an exclusive Irish gin pop-up planned to whet the appetites of gin lovers everywhere.
Marking national gin day with a special collaboration with The Shed Distillery of PJ Rigney, producers of the acclaimed Drumshambo Gunpowder Irish Gin, Cullen’s at the Cottage is the place to be this June.
Located on the grounds of Ashford Castle, the event in Cullen’s at the Cottage will take guests on an exploration of flavour and a celebration of Irish gin.
From lunchtime on Saturday 9th, the pop-up event will delight with expert tastings of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, and the launch of an exciting new bespoke cocktail, The Gunpowder Cottage.
Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is slow-distilled by hand with oriental botanicals and gunpowder tea. The method combines vapour distillation of fresh Chinese lemons, Kaffir limes, and Oriental grapefruits, along with the intriguing gunpowder tea, and pot still distillation of 8 other botanicals ranging from Chinese star anise to local Drumshanbo meadowsweet.
Mixology experts from Cullen’s at The Cottage & Dalcassian Wines & Spirits have been experimenting with a range of fresh seasonal ingredients to find the perfect cocktail recipe to complement the citrus notes & botanical balance of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin.
They have created the exclusive ‘Gunpowder Cottage Cocktail’, featuring fresh raspberries and a touch of fresh garden mint, along with citrus infusions that complement Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin.
