Eat, Drink, Play: A Gamer’s Dream Bar Has just Opened in Smithfield
Last Monday 5th of June, Token pressed the start button of what promises to be one of Dublin’s most unique venues. Described as an arcade, restaurant and bar, Token Dublin is the new project from the people that brought us The R.A.G.E. an award-wining retro-games store that has amassed a following among Ireland’s video game enthusiasts.
Token is located in Smithfield, Dublin 7, and it’s a first of its kind establishment in Ireland. Their food menu is an eclectic assortment of dishes influenced by street food trends in different parts of the world and features classic as well as creative burgers such as a wild board burger and a veggie option name the Funguy (mushrooms, burnt pineapple and avocado aioli). Hot dogs, tacos and salads are also on offer.
Over 20 taps will have craft beer lovers spoiled for choice. Choose between names such as Sierra Nevada, Hop House 13, O Brother Brewing, as well as occasional guest breweries.
Many of the games will be instantly recognisable by any one with fond memories of old-school Nintendo. Donkey Kong, Mortal Kombat 2 and Space Invaders are just some of the legendary alternatives. They’ve also have classic pinball machines.
During this initial phase, they are relying on bookings to ensure all visitors get the best possible experience, specially to limit waiting times on machines. Walk-ins are welcomed, but if you’re visiting with a group, booking in advance is highly encouraged. You can book HERE.
As they’re still on their beta version, some bits of the venue are still a work in progress, but all the games as well as the food and drink is available now. Once all the finishing touches are applied, they’ll be open fully to the general public every from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm on weekdays and until midnight on the weekends.
