Situated on the shores of Clonakilty Bay, West Cork, with a spectacular vista of the Atlantic Ocean there is little question as to why Dunmore House Hotel has been awarded the title of Irish National Wedding Venue of the Year at the inaugural Irish Wedding Awards 2017.
The four-star Dunmore House Hotel is run by husband and wife Richard and Carol Barrett, who are the third generation behind this family business first opened as a hotel in 1948.
Commenting on the award Carol Barrett, said: “Words cannot express how thrilled and honoured we are to accept these amazing awards. We were delighted to have been nominated among these other gorgeous and deserving venues, so to take home not only the award for our region, but the coveted national title is a dream come true.”
The inaugural year of The Wedding Awards in Ireland, the annual event is already well-established in Scotland, Northern Ireland and England.
The black tie ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Dublin, during which 21 winners were announced across a range of local and national categories, including Wedding Venue of the Year, Wedding Boutique of the Year and Florist of the Year.
Nominees were determined by a public vote and an awards judging panel made the final call on who took home the trophies.
For Wedding Venue of the Year 30 hotels were nominated across six regional categories: Borders, West, Midlands, Dublin, South East and South West.
Along with the overall award of Irish Wedding Venue Of The Year 2017, earlier in the evening Dunmore House Hotel won the title of Best Wedding Venue in the South West, beating stiff competition from Parknasilla Resport & Spa (Sneem), Ballinacurra House (Kinsale), Ballygarry House Hotel & Spa (Tralee) and Hayfield Manor Hotel (Cork).
