One of Our Favourite Dublin Restaurants Has Launched a Vegan Menu

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock this January, you will have heard that embracing plant-based foods is the order of the day for many, with #veganuary taking over our feeds. That said, finding vegan menu options in your favourite eateries can be a bit of a struggle.

While we’ll never forego a good steak with a glass of red, we’re all for expanding your horizons and trying new things here at TheTaste, so we were excited to see one of our favourite restaurants, Bon Appetit, embracing the trend.

The Executive Chef at Oliver Dunne’s acclaimed restaurant in Malahide has responded to the increased demand for vegan dishes by crafting an entire menu of tempting dishes, all entirely free of meat and dairy products.

Aaron O’Carroll’s menu is far from rabbit food and risotto, with highlights like a portobello mushroom-based Whiskey BBQ Burger, Quinoa and Kale Black Bean Salad and Asian-inspired dishes like Ginger and Sesame Vermicelli and Saffron Potato, Green Bean and Lime Leaf Curry.

To end your vegan feast on a sweet note, you can choose from virtuous Superfood Energy Balls or Raw Vanilla Bean Chia Pudding.

The motivation behind the vegan menu launch, according to O’Carroll, was a desire to be able to “tell vegan diners what they can have, rather than what they can’t have.”

With more and more of us choosing to give Veganuary a whirl, hopefully Bon Appetit’s willingness to embrace plant-based options will spread to other Dublin eateries soon.
