New €3 Million Ship to Debut in May For Doolin to Aran Islands Crossings

A new 200-seater ‘cruise ship’ worth €3 million is currently being built in France in order to further increase the crossings between the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

Commissioned by the Garrihy family, who run the Doolin2Aran Ferries, the ship will function as a ferry to the Aran islands, while also offerings scheduled cruise sailings to the famous Cliffs of Moher.

The fastest of its type on the Irish coast when it launches this May, the ship will appeal to tourists from all around the world, especially with the multi-lingual voice and visual guides on offer.

It’ll also have custom-built seating, air conditioning and an advanced computerised stability system.

Speaking about the news, Eugene Garrihy of Doolin2Aran Ferries said: “With good visitor management and continued engagement with all tourism bodies, we are confident that the impact of this investment in the region will be very positive.”

County Clare

The ship, which has yet to be named, is scheduled to begin crossings in May, once the building in La Rochelle, France has completed.
