A Craft Brewery with the Potential to Become Ireland’s Largest Is Coming to Dundalk

The Station Works Brewery, which has the potential of becoming the country’s biggest craft brewery is expected to open its doors in Dundalk next spring after moving from its current location in Newry.

Acquired by Alltech Beverage Division Ireland since July 2015, and in operations since 2013, it is the company behind The Foxes Rock Irish ales and Finn Lager. Alltech is an American firm owned by Irishman Dr Pearse Lyons, who recently opened the Pearse Lyons Distillery in Dublin 8.

The company is currently hiring for a few positions and on an advert posted on job-hunting site indeed.com, they point out they hope to be up and running by the end of April next year.

The Station Works Brewery is currently the third largest in Ireland and it is growing fast. Their new plant in Dundalk “will be capable of being the largest craft brewery in the country”, they point out, adding that another of their strengths is that they own a beer bottling line where they package their own beer and contract package for a number of other breweries in Ireland.

Alltech was founded in 1980 by Dundalk-born entrepreneur Dr. Pearse Lyons and has become a leading global biotechnology company dedicated to animal nutrition. The company has diversified into the production of award-winning craft beers and spirits including Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale and Town Branch Bourbon.
