Are you one of those people who can’t help but peer at their fellow shopper’s food haul at the checkout, or have been tempted to peak into the kitchen presses and fridge when visiting a friend’s house? Then Checkout magazine’s annual Top 100 Brands in the Irish grocery market will satisfy your curiosity.
While Coca-Cola has retained its grip on the No.1 spot for the 13th year in a row, again this year the striking trend saw Irish brands hold their own holding on to high places on the Checkout listing.
Elsewhere in the top 10 Irish brands such as Avonmore (3rd), Brennans (4th), and Tayto (6th) had strong performances.
Other Irish brands performing well on this year’s list include, Dairygold (15), Pat The Baker (19), and Club (20).
In the battle of the Irish tea brands Barrys continues to be a category leader at 21, ahead of Lyons at 31.
Other home grown brands Ballygowan, Keelings and Glenisk all reached their highest ever, placing 14th, 26th and 27th respectively.
While new Irish entries included protein bar brand, Fulfil, which made its debut on the list at 68.
Cully & Sully pulled off a soup coup making it not only to it to its highest position ever at 56, but has also taking over as the leader of the Soups category.
In a bizarre coincidence, 7Up has been ranked at 7th position for exactly 7 years.

Alcohol brands were also surveyed with Heineken once again topping the Top 50 Alcohol Brands.
Santa Rita has also remained in its place as Ireland’s biggest selling wine, topping the Top 20 Wines List, while Smirnoff continues to lead the Top 20 Spirits list.
The most accurate barometer of the biggest selling brands in the marketplace, The Checkout Top 100 Brands is based on branded value sales across the Irish grocery sector measuring sales performances of over 6,500 brands from over 200 product classes in compiling the report.
