Celebrate The Beginning Of Oyster Season At The Shelbourne

The Shelbourne celebrates the Irish oyster every September when the best season for the finest bivalves officially begins, and this year is no exception with some deliciously tempting oyster dishes. 

During the month of September, No. 27, The Shelbourne Bar, will have daily specials featuring Carlingford oysters. The Shelbourne Oyster is a half dozen coastal oysters with a classic mignonette dressing and lemon, fresh from Irish waters (€24) or a zesty option of ponzu oysters with chilli and spring onion (€25). Oysters Bloody Mary is another option, or if you prefer your oysters cooked, try the classic oysters ‘rockerfella’ (€26 for half dozen) or Tempura Oyster Truffle (€27.  Finally, The Shelbourne Lawyer features a half dozen oysters & Liscannor crab with a Green Spot whiskey glaze (€28).

The Shelbourne’s sommelier recommends a few different drinks as the perfect pairings for the oyster menu. Try a classic gin martini served straight up or on the rocks using An Dúlamán Irish Maritime Gin, a small batched distilled gin made from 5 seaweed botanicals (€18), the classic pairing of a glass of Champagne Laurent Perrier La Cuvee NV (€26) or a pint of The Shelbourne’s barrel aged whiskey stout which is finished in a Dunville Whiskey cask (€7).

The oyster offers will be available in No. 27 The Shelbourne Bar during the month of September. The oyster offers are just one of the great pleasures to be had from a visit to The Shelbourne while there’s an ‘r’ in the month.
