This Beautiful Limited Edition Guitar is Made from Bushmills Whiskey’s Barrel Wood

The recently launched Bushmills x Lowden guitar combines the craft of two prestigious Northern Irish icons: Bushmills Irish Whiskey and Lowden Guitars, manufacturer of top quality acoustic guitars. The instrument is a limited-edition guitar made from Bushmills barrels and ancient bog oak.

Only eight of these gorgeous guitars will be available to purchase and music lovers interested can register here. George Lowden selected Bushmills Irish Whiskey barrel wood for the 12th fret and back inlays, the bindings, rosette and head facings; ancient bog oak for the back and sides of the guitar; and sinker redwood for the soundboard.

The merging of both crafts is represented with a cross symbol formed of a cooper’s hammer and luthier’s chisel and the guitars have two lines on the back, which are a nod to the staves found in a Bushmills barrel, representing the passing of skills from one generation to the next.

“We scour the world for the best tonewoods which are the real ‘stars’ of our guitars, determining how they sound, feel, and play, so my sons and I relished the opportunity to work with the Coopers to select the best Bushmills Irish Whiskey barrel wood for the guitar. It was a great opportunity to see up close how the barrels are formed and how they give the whiskey its colour and flavour”, said luthier George Lowden.
