Ballyvaughan Farmers’ Market Re-Opens this Week with Cookbook Launch

The ruggedly beautiful landscape of the Burren and Cliffs of Moher attracts masses of tourists every year, holding the distinction of being a UNESCO Global Geo Park. This beautiful corner of the Wild Atlantic Way is also home to an array of artisan food producers making the most of the fertile eco-system in which it is located and the Ballyvaughan Farmers’ Market aims to celebrate this each year.

After a short and mild winter, the market will return this Saturday to St. John’s Hall in Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare and each Saturday from May to October between the hours of 10am and 2pm. Visitors can expect to find a wonderful range of hand-crafted foods such as preserves, jellies and honey as well as the finest local produce from treasures from the Atlantic to artisan cheese.

To celebrate the re-opening of the market, a Ballyvaughan Farmers’ Market Cookbook is being launched this Saturday, April 29th, at a special event celebrating the 63 page hardback collection of recipes from the market’s long-standing stallholders. The cookbook is a beautiful depiction of the delicious dishes you can create with artisan produce from the Burren and showcases the passion of the producers found at Ballyvaughan Farmers’ Market. Tickets for this launch event cost €20, which includes a copy of the cookbook as well as an €8 voucher for lunch at the market stalls.

Going forward, the market will host monthly food demonstrations for the passionate home cook including ‘Raw Food Chocolate Treats’ with Crepe Chef Diana Rogerson on May 20th and ‘Preparing the Best Meat Cuts’ with artisan Burren craft butcher Neil Hawes on June 17th.

The Ballyvaughan Farmers’ Market also encourages visitors to participate in numerous food competitions throughout the year, kicking off with a contest for ‘Best Home Baked Brown Bread’ on June 17th.
