Asia Market Countdown to Chinese New Year with In-Store Tastings, Chef Demos and Giveaways
In the countdown to the Chinese New Year Festival, from Saturday 28th January until February 12th, Asia Market, on Drury Street, will be celebrating with a host of Chinese food and drink tastings, chef demos and giveaways.
From January 23rd, Asia Market will be giving out free to customers a special Chinese New Year ‘Red Packet’. These are available for customers who spend over €20 in store, while stocks last.
Chinese Red packets are a very popular item during Chinese New Year. The tradition is that married couples fill these Chinese New Year envelopes with money to hand out to children.
On the 24th and 25th, there will be free Dumplings Tastings from noon to 6pm – allowing you to sample the variety of flavours of these traditional Chinese New Year food, and dipping sauces to match, available at Asia Market.
There will be free Chinese Herbal Tea available all day on January 26th from Asia Market’s new Bakery Counter at the front of the store.
On the same day there will be an already sold out Tasting Tour in-store at 6pm, which will include: a personal tour of the market explaining all the wonderful ingredients, Chinese tea and Chinese New Year snacks on arrival, food sampling and nibbles throughout the tour of the market aisles, Sake/wine sampling, and an Asia Market goodie bag.
Following the popularity of this Tasting Tour, Asia Market announced a further date on Thursday February 2nd – which also sold out within 24 hours!
A cookery demonstration from Irish-Chinese chef Kwanghi Chan takes place on Friday 27th, from 3-5pm. One of the highlights of the events schedule, Kwanghi will prepare dishes on the spot from a selection of fresh ingredients chosen by customers.
On Chinese New Year Day, January 28th, there will be a Chinese Dragon & Lion Dance in store from 12-12.30pm. Come in and join in the fun!
Finally, also on January 28th, there will be a free giveaway to the first 120 customers in-store. The lucky customers will receive a free Yeo’s Starter Pack, filled with three Yeo’s South East Asia spice pastes in Satay, Laksa, and Nasi Goreng flavours – plus a to help you create perfect stir-fries and bowls of noodles at home. Open from 10am, the packs are available to the first 120 customers who spend over €10.
