If you Like Crisp, Fresh White Wines, you Will this Love Picpoul de Pinet

Picpoul de Pinet wines are a breeze of effortless enjoyment amongst the delightfully puzzling system of French appellations. If only all old-world bottles were so easy to remember! Picpoul is the grape, Pinet the area, therefore the math couldn’t be easier: it’s Picpoul and it comes from Pinet.

The AOC’s full name is Languedoc Picpoul de Pinet, it’s located in the South of France and while surrounded by numerous areas known for bold, intense reds, it’s dedicated to white wines that are famous for being cheerful, summer-loving creations which pair remarkably well with shellfish and seafood.

AIf you Like Crisp Fresh White Wines you Will this Love Picpoul de Pinet 2igue Marine Picpoul de Pinet 2016 is a great example of what makes the style so appealing. Crisp and with a mouth-watering acidity, this wine will cut through an oyster’s briny flavours like a sharp, steely sword.

Aromas of citrus and a seawater-like minerality are complemented by a pleasant tangy palate of grapefruit and lemon peel. Light bodied and refreshing, it’s a friendly white wine with an edge.

If you enjoy Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio or Albarinos, give Picpoul a chance before the summer ends!

Aigue Marine Picpoul de Pinet 2016 is available at O’Briens Wine for €15.95 (on offer, buy one, get the second at half price).
