A WINE IDEA is Going Back to In-Person Wine Tastings

A WINE IDEA adapted quickly to the new way of business due to COVID-19 restrictions in early 2020 and quickly launched Virtual Wine Tastings to the public, private and corporate clients. Since then, A WINE IDEA organised over 130 virtual wine tastings and hosted over 3000 people both in Ireland and overseas.

This week A WINE IDEA is delighted to be returning to in-person wine tastings as part of Spanish Food & Wine Week. This will be the first of many in-person tastings in collaboration with different venues around Dublin.

Every year we have so much fun celebrating Spanish wines and this year will be no different. We are very excited to announce our line-up for this year which includes a welcome return to in-person tastings for us.

Thursday, 7th Oct: Webinar – Exploring Indigenous Grape Varieties of Spain (Virtual) – Free
One of the best things about Spanish wines is the incredible diversity that can be found among them; grape varieties, wine regions, culture and more. In this webinar we will have Bodegas Felix Callejo, Bodegas Riojanas, Bodegas Terras Gauda, Acústic Celler and Bodegas Hijos De Alberto Gutierrez joining us. We will be discussing the amazing diversity and fantastic amount of indigenous grape varieties of Spain. Please note that it is a free public event delivered online via Zoom. Friday, 8th Oct: Wines of Spain Virtual Wine Tasting (Virtual) – Free

Saturday, 9th Oct: Spanish Wine Tasting at Upstairs at No:4 (In-Person)
Join us at Upstairs at No.4 in the heart of Dublin City for this celebration of Spanish wine as part of Spanish Food & Wine Week. We will be tasting six fantastic Spanish wines representing six different Spanish wine regions. About A WINE IDEA
A WINE IDEA, founded by Sevgi Tüzel-Conghaile, is a Dublin based wine centric business which provides wine tastings, workshops, wine education and wine consultancy that are ideal for everyone from the enthusiast to industry professional.

Sevgi, who is an Oenologist & Viticulturist, has dedicated her life to wine and has spent time as a winemaker, wine scholar, wine educator and wine consultant. Sevgi’s passion for wine began while she was studying Food Engineering in one of the wine-producing regions of her native Turkey. Following her graduation, she chased her dreams and started to work as a winemaker in her home country. Sevgi obtained her MSc in Oenology & Viticulture from the most prestigious universities in the world in the field of wine, Montpellier SupAgro and Bordeaux Sciences Agro in France and Hochschule Geisenheim University in Germany. This also gave her a great opportunity to visit many vineyards and a chance to discover especially the French and German wine regions. She later joined a company audit project in Château Couhins in Pessac-Léognan in Bordeaux. Following this she joined the team in Heymann-Löwenstein in Mosel in Germany.

Sevgi contributed to TheTaste.ie as a freelance wine writer. She also runs every year an 8-week wine appreciation course as part of NUI Galway. Additionally, Sevgi completed Wines of the World certified course taught by Masters of Wine (MW) such as Romana Echensperger MW, Alison Flemming MW, Caro Maurer MW, Josef Schuller MW, Frank Smulders MW. She also joined certified courses that specialized in Champagne, Sherry and Cava. She is also an Associate Judge at International Wine Challenge London and member of Irish Guild of Sommeliers and Wine Spirit Women.
