A Taste of Japan at Howth Castle Cookery School with Fiona Uyema

Ireland’s Japanese Cuisine Queen, Fiona Uyema, has been announced as Howth Castle Cookery School‘s exclusive guest tutor. Special hands-on-classes and demos will take place on February 25th and February 26th 2016 in the beautifully restored Georgian kitchens of Howth Castle.

One of Ireland’s most uniquely situated cookery schools, overlooking Dublin Bay, Howth Castle Cookery School is just 30 minutes from Dublin City. Together with Howth Castle, Fiona will also be offering original Japanese-themed team building workshops and other corporate events throughout 2016.

With her business background, Fiona creates tailor-made classes for companies seeking creative and effective incentive events for employees or valued clients. Corporate events are designed to build relationships while learning new skills and gaining insight into the Japanese culture at Howth Castle Cookery School. Hands-on cookery classes, sushi-rolling competitions, egg and chopstick races, assembling Bento Boxes and a glimpse into Japanese kimono dressing along with Japanese writing are just some of the different elements available.

I am excited to work with Howth Castle and I look forward to sharing my love of Japanese food and the wider Japanese culture in a variety of different ways with a new audience,” said Fiona Uyema.

Low in fat and high in both protein and anti-oxidants, the Japanese diet is renowned for being one of the healthiest in the world. Bringing the philosophy of ‘balance’ to cooking, Fiona applies simple techniques to fresh Irish produce. Ideal for larger groups, Fiona is also available to visit businesses for unique corporate experiences which include health and wellbeing talks and a specially tailored five-week challenge incorporating five key elements of the Japanese diet.

Passionate about bringing the art of Japanese home-cooking into kitchens across the country and further afield, Fiona’s first cookbook, ‘Japanese Food Made Easy’ was published by Mercier Press in September 2015.

Classes start from €35.00 per person, see fionauyema.com and howthcastle.com for more details.
